BookBridges is a name that reflects the fundamental purpose of the company: to bridge the gap between privileged and underprivileged students in terms of access to educational resources. By allowing privileged students to list their books on our platform and facilitating the delivery of those books to underprivileged students, we are creating a bridge that connects these two groups and helps to improve educational outcomes for all. What we do?
At BookBridges, we are dedicated to bridging the educational gap by providing underprivileged students with the necessary academic resources they need to succeed. We do this by allowing privileged students to list their books on our platform and then connect them with underprivileged students in need. Our platform not only ensures that students have access to the books they need, but we also work to minimize delivery costs by sourcing books from students in nearby towns and cities. Additionally, we rely on donations and funds from various channels to cover the costs associated with book delivery. Through our work, we hope to foster a more equitable and inclusive education system.

About the founder
Ashwit Raj, born on September 5, 2004 in Ranchi, has always been inclined towards learning and experimentation. It was during his ninth grade at St. Thomas School Ranchi, that he noticed a major issue faced by his classmates – none of them had each other’s phone numbers, making it challenging to call peers in times of emergency. To resolve the problem, Ashwit developed an Android application that included all of his classmates’ contact information, which allowed for easy data sharing. Additionally, he integrated the application with Google Drive so that his classmates could view all of the images from any classroom event or celebration.
Ashwit has also been passionate about Indian classical music from a young age, learning Tabla, Harmonium, and vocals. He completed his senior secondary education at Delhi Public School Ranchi, when he was also honoured with Sangeet Prabhakar by the Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad. He cleared the IPMAT exam in 2022 and joined IIM Indore to pursue an integrated five-year programme, IPM, which includes his bachelor’s and master’s in business administration (MBA).
In 2022, Ashwit cleared the IPMAT exam and joined IIM Indore to pursue an integrated five-year programme, IPM, which included his bachelor’s and master’s in business administration (MBA). While at IIM Indore, he joined Svarg Foundations and contacted several principals of Government Model Schools across Madhya Pradesh. He conducted several stress management workshops to create awareness and improve the mental health of students and children.
After arriving at IIM Indore, Ashwit realised that he had accumulated a large number of books that he no longer needed for JEE and IPMAT exam preparation. If he sold these books to a second-hand store, they would only accumulate in piles and not benefit anyone, particularly underprivileged children who don’t have access to quality educational materials. He found that no system was in place to help these underprivileged students. He made a promise to himself to create a system so that those books that are no longer needed by him and countless other students can reach the hands of underprivileged students who need them. This is how he came up with the idea to establish BookBridges.
